Hilltop, Kalinga
March 13, 2009
Zeny, Jo & I went to Hilltop. Achao drove us.
An old man asked to have his picture taken with me. “I will hold my cane” he told me.
Pregnant woman gathered and we sang english and but but songs.
We talked about ways to bless babies in the womb.
And how babies can hear muffled voices and music through the water that surrounds them.
Everyone ate snacks of muffins and tang. Then prenatal check ups.
All is well. We are thankful and somewhat unsurprised – these women are incredibly strong and healthy.
More talking and joking and laughing.
“We do not believe in family planning. We believe in family planting.”
The local pastor wished for a dozen children. He has six. And grandchildren now.
He prizes his “most beautiful woman”.
Children are blessings. Families are priceless.
